Attaching a Tie Closure

Learn how to anchor a fabric tie beneath a lining card for a secure, neatly finished closure.

Step 1

Prepare the Attachment Point

Identify where the tie should connect to the chipboard structure. Cut a hole at the attachment point.

Tie a knot at the end of the tie. The knot will sit in the hole to make the attachment extra secure.

Note: The thickness of the string affects the size of the knot and the hole needed to secure it.

Step 2

Glue the Tie in Place

Complete the project instructions up to the point where the lining cards will be installed.

Glue the knot into the hole. Glue the short length of tie immediately outside the hole flat against the project so it will be held beneath the lining card.

Step 3

Install the Lining Card

Glue the wrapped lining card over the tie attachment. Press it firmly into place so the knot and glued end remain concealed and secure.
