Hinge Supports
Learn how to fuse interfacing to fabric to create a stable support for a fabric hinge.
Step 1
Cut the Fabric and Interfacing
Cut the fabric and fusible interfacing to the dimensions specified by the project pattern.
Step 2
Fuse the Interfacing to the Fabric
Place the fabric wrong side up. Position the fusible interfacing with its rough adhesive side down against the wrong side of the fabric.
Iron the interfacing according to the manufacturer’s heat and pressing instructions. When it is fully fused, the interfacing will appear slightly darker. Allow the piece to cool before moving it.
Step 3
Iron the Fabric Edges
Fold the top and bottom fabric edges down over the fused interfacing. Iron the folds so the edges lie flat and remain securely in place.
